How it began
A grandmother's walk on the shore
Sands of Home started with a simple idea: what if you could carry the feeling of a place with you, always? Our founder, Susan, grew up spending summers on the Emerald Coast of Florida with her grandmother. After her grandmother passed, she wanted something tangible — something that held the warmth of those mornings, the grit of that particular sand, the light off that particular water.
She began experimenting with resin and sand, learning to suspend the grains in a way that caught the light like the shore itself. Friends asked for their own. Then strangers. Sands of Home was born not from a business plan, but from grief and love and the human need to hold onto what matters.
The craft
Handmade, one pearl at a time
Each Sand Pearl is made entirely by hand in our small studio. We work with sand you send us — from beaches, deserts, riverbeds, backyards — or from our own curated collection of locations. The sand is cleaned, dried, and carefully suspended in a hand-poured resin sphere, then set in sterling silver or gold-filled metalwork. No two pearls are identical. That's the point.
Sand arrives
You send us your sand — a tablespoon is all we need — along with the story behind it.
Cleaning & prep
We clean and dry each batch carefully, preserving the natural color and texture of your sand.
Pearl casting
The sand is hand-poured into a resin sphere, suspended in a way that catches the light.
Setting & finishing
Each pearl is set by hand in your chosen metal and inspected before it ships to you.
